Praveen Mathur is an internationally known chest physician with specific expertise in pleural diseases and other minimally invasive pulmonary procedures. He is currently Professor of Clinical Medicine with the Indiana university medical center in Indianapolis. Dr. Mathur has an international background. Born in Paris France, he graduated from GR Medical College in Gwalior MP India in 1972. He then pursued his Internal Medicine training at the University of Western Ontario in Canada, and his pulmonary raining at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, joining the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1981.

Over the years, Dr. Mathur has been a leader in the field of Pulmonary Medicine. He has held numerous leadership positions in multiple national and international societies. He ahs served as Indiana Governor for the American College of Chest Physicians, has been Chair of the ACCP Council of Governors, is a member of eth Board of Trustees of the Chest Foundation, President of the American Association for Bronchology, and is a member of the Board of Regents of the American College of Chest Physicians. He has been a leading member of numerous planning and program committees for both the ACCP and the American Thoracic Society, and has also been active within eh European Respiratory Society.

Dr. Mathur has more than 100 peer reviewed publication and book chapters, ahs edited numerous books , and is the author or coauthor of numerous chapters in Up-To-Date in Pulmonary Medicine. He is also the coauthor of a Manual of Pleural Procedures. He is a sought after lecturer on a variety of topics pertaining to pleural diseases, thoracoscopy, and interventional pulmonology, and has lectured throughout the world.
