Over the last 25 years of his tenure at the Cleveland Clinic Dr. Mehta has excelled from the rank of a fellow to the Vice-Chairman of the Department of the Pulmonary Medicine. He has published more than 400 peer reviewed articles and 75 book chapters and review articles. He has authored a book and edited eight others in the field of Interventional Pulmonology.
After serving as an associate editor for 10 years he is the current Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Bronchology. He also sits on the editorial board of four other journals including the renowned CHEST. Dr. Mehta is one of the founders of the American Association for Bronchology and served as its president for the years 1998-1999.
Dr. Mehta has organized several post graduate courses including Hands-on-Workshops in the field of Interventional Bronchology, for the American Thoracic Society as well as for the American College of Chest Physicians. He has been was honored as a "Teacher of the Year-2000-01", "Teacher of the Year-2004-05" and "Teacher of the Year-2005-06" in the Department of Pulmonary Medicine and as the "Master Educator of the Year 2006" at the Cleveland Clinic. In 2005, he received the Presidential Citation Lecture Award from the ACCP and was named Clinical Instructor of the year 2006 from the Clinical assembly of the American Thoracic Society.
