Dr. Shareef was born in India where he obtained his medical degree. Coming from a family of physicians, he worked in India before immigrating to the United States where he joined the department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of California (Irvine) for an observership before joining the Internal Medicine residency program at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York.

While at UCI, Dr. Shareef contributed to Bronchoscopy International, performing extensive literature searches, and studying computer simulation in teaching pulmonary procedures, virtual reality, and procedure related standards and competency assessments. Dr. Shareef is a young, hard-working physician who plans to to complete a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine so that he might continue medical practice and academic research in the field of interventional pulmonology.
